RULES AND INFORMATION FOR ENTIRE 2010 SHOW SEASON

1.        Riding Helmets are required by all riders, without exception, when mounted regardless of age.  Western riders who do not have western helmets will not be penalized for wearing English Helmets.  Grange will have a few helmets to lend.

2.        This is a tentative schedule.  The show committee reserves the right to alter, divide, cancel, combine or re-locate classes to expedite the show.

3.        ALL HORSES MUST BE PRESENTED WITH AN ORIGINAL 2010 NEGATIVE COGGINS (regardless of what your veterinarian tells you!) TO BE PERMITTED ON GRANGE PROPERTY!  State law will someday require you to present current vaccinations on the Fair Grounds and horses will be scanned for the required Identification Micro Chip.  We encourage all horseman to write to your legislature and oppose this action

4.        New laws passed in 2009 require all equines shown during a FAIR must be accompanied by a Veterinarian Health Certificate taken within 10 days of the horse show.  (THIS ONLY PERTAINS TO HORSE SHOWS HELD DURING A FAIR)  We encourage you to write your legislature and health department and Department of Agriculture and fight this action.  This is beyond our control but to help horse show participants Middletown Grange will hire a Veterinarian to be present the morning of the Fair Horse Show to examine equines and issue a health certificate for a small fee.  Please understand we cannot ignore this new law or we will incur heavy fines and the Fair shut down.

5.        Entry fee $10 per class.  Fees are to be paid before a number is issued.  Additional classes to be paid before entering the ring.  NO REFUNDS ON CLASSES ONCE PRECEDING CLASS IS BEING JUDGED!  There is a $25 bounced check fee that will be added if a check is returned.  All open checks must be completed at the end of the day or a $5 handling fee will be added.

6.        Two rings to be run simultaneously CROSS ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.  CLASSES WILL BE HELD FOR 2 MINUTES ONLY!!!!

7.        Six ribbons awarded in each class.  Champion and Reserve ribbons to be awarded in all divisions.  Same horse and rider combination to be eligible for Champion and Reserve Awards for that day.  Point system: 1st=8 pts., 2nd=5, 3rd=4, 4th=3, 5th=2, 6th=1.  In case of a tie a hack-off, horse trivia questions or # of blue ribbons won will determine the winner at discretion of show committee.  In November a Year-End Awards Dinner is held to award riders who accumulate the most points in each division.  Riders must use the same horse in each class of a division to receive a Champion or Reserve for that day, but may change horses from one show to another for year-end awards.  Year End Awards will be given in all divisions listed below and include Grooming & Showmanship, Model Hunter, Model Stock, Model Draft, Warm-Up Fences and Trail.

27.     Parking horse trailers on wet ground and footing are major issues with the Grange.  In the event of rain prior to or on the day of a horse show please call (215) 860-6162 at regular intervals to check on show status.  We make every effort to call as many people as we can to cancel a show so make sure we have your phone number.  (We are not responsible if you do not answer the phone or do not have a message machine.)  If a rain date is planned it will be announced at the next scheduled horse show and listed on a message machine at the above number.
